Step 1: Prep your hair

Prepping your hair with a good shampoo and conditioner like Cote Hair Hybrid Shampoo and Conditioner will prime your hair and allow for your products to perform fabulously.

Generously apply Hybrid Comb Out Spray to detangle and protect your hair from heat.  A good hair oil will help reduce frizz and tame flyaways. Exposing your hair to heat can seriously dehydrate it and leave it looking dry and dull, so I like to use a couple of drops of Cote Hair Quinoa Smoothing Oil, which is a multipurpose lightweight oil full of hydrating and repairing properties along with antioxidants that promote shine. Depending on the hair type and needs, I also to use the Hybrid Styling Foam on every hair type then follow up with either the Hybrid Cream Gel or Hybrid Sea Style Spray for added texture and volume.

Step 2: Start with a rough dry

If you rough dry your hair first, you’ll cut your drying time in half, and your hair will remain shiny since you're not exposing it to long bursts of concentrated heat.

Start by flipping your hair upside down, drying all around your hair, so you get the layers underneath as well as the front sections. Plus this will add some serious volume. Once it’s just a little less than half dry, flip your hair back over and dry the sides and crown.

Step 3: Section your hair

The easiest way to get the best blow dry possible is to work through your hair in four rectangular shaped sections: two side sections (from the ear to your forehead), one back section (from the nape of your neck to below the crown) and a top section. Using a thin comb divide your hair evenly into these four sections, holding each area separate with a large butterfly clip.

Once your hair is sectioned, then you can start blow drying using the Cote Hair Ion Round Brushes: take small sections of hair and glide your brush slowly through your hair starting from scalp to end, angling the dryer downwards on the brush until you reach the end. If you keep the hair taut on the brush and lift it up, it will help to add volume. Always begin with the back section, then work on the side sections, and finish with the top section.

Step 4: Cool blast your hair dry

You know that little button beneath the nozzle of the blow dryer? That’s the "cool" button. Depending on the manufacturer you can either press it and it continually blows cool air or you may have to keep it depressed with your finger while you set your curl.

While you're blow-drying your locks, let your hair cool for a couple of seconds before taking it off your brush. This will help your hair hold the curl and will also reduce heat exposure, so there will be less long-term damage. It may increase blow dry time, but when your curls stay in all night, it’s totally worth it.

Step 5: Volume

For the most voluminous blowout ever, you need to pay serious attention to your top section. First, split the section in two, and then using a round brush, brush the section out. Then focusing on the first two inches, go back and forth until it's completely dry. Next, roll each section as if it was on a hot roller. Finally, pin it so it’s standing in a big loop. Blast it dry with cold air to ensure it’s dry and that the curl holds.

Step 6: Remember the back

To ensure that the back of your hair looks smooth, bring the brush downward towards your shoulders as your dry it. This will create tension at the roots so that it looks sleek rather than puffy.

Step 7: Make it last!

After you've set the style the way you like, finish everything off with a setting spray. Cote Quinoa Holding Spray will give some serious hold and will help maintain your style in extreme weather conditions. If more hold is needed you can layer the spray. Alternatively if a softer and more flexible finish is what you're looking for, the Cote Hybrid Flex Spray is excellent to hold your style while locking in moisture and smoothing fly aways.

    Hybrid Cream Gel

The hybrid cream gel is in my opinion one of the most versatile products in the Cote line. I enjoy mixing it with the quinoa oil before blowdrying and styling, but it works perfectly on its own. Its great for naturally curly and wavy hair as well. I personally enjoy using it on days where I let my hair air dry to bring out my natural wave. It reduces frizz and can add thickness to more fine hair without feeling gritty or heavy.
